Clause 936 of the Civil Code of Ukraine provides that on the grounds of the storage contract one of the parties (the keeper) undertakes to keep the thing, which was delivered to the same by the other party (the depositor) and to return the thing to the depositor in the good condition. If the keeper is the entity, which conducts the entrepreneur activities, the storage contract can establish for such keeper the obligation to keep the thing, which will be delivered to the same in future.

The storage contract is to be made in the written from when such form is required in accordance with clause 208 of the Civil Code of Ukraine. The storage contract for keeping the thing in future is to be made in the written form anyway. The written form of the storage contract can be appropriate receipt, bill or other document, signed by the keeper.

Duration of the storage to be stipulated in the storage contract, otherwise the keeper has to keep the thing until the depositor will require to return it.

Clause 943 of the Civil Code of Ukraine provides that the keeper has to keep the thing personally, however some exceptions for this rule are also provided by the Code.

Following provisions of clause 944 of the Civil Code of Ukraine the keeper has no right to use the kept thing and/or to transfer it for enjoyment of other third parties as well.

Amount of the storage fee is to be stipulated in the storage contract.

Clause 948 of the Civil Code of Ukraine provides that the depositor has to take back the thing on expiry of the storage contract.

The keeper has to return the thing to the depositor or the same quantity of the same things in the same condition it was received by the keeper together with fruits of such thing if any.

The keeper is liable for loss and/or damage of the thing on the essential grounds. The professional keeper is liable for loss and/or damage of the thing if he is unable to prove such damage or loss appeared in the result of circumstances beyond his will or due to the entire nature of the thing.
